Sunday I allowed myself to sleep in, and then Kerry and I went to Morton's in the mall for Easter dinner. What a treat! We both had steak, mashed potatoes, spinach, and smoky mac and cheese. Plus I had a wedge salad and Kerry had tomato bisque soup. So good! We took a taxi there, but we decided to take the subway back: a lot of walking, which was good for us--Line 1 to Line 3 is a LONG walk at Shanghai Railway Station. We also walked home from Jiangwan Town Station instead of waiting at Chi Feng Station for the 745, so we could get more walking in. In the evening, I did reading for all my classes and my reading group: finished
The Scarlet Letter for the Short Novels class; read Jackson's "The Lottery," Oates's "Where Are You Going...", and O'Connor's "A Good Man Is Hard to Find" for American Lit; read Perkins Gilman's "The Yellow Wallpaper" and "Why I Wrote the Yellow Wallpaper," Glaspell's
Trifles, and the poetry of Phillis Wheatley for my grad. student reading group. It's kind of enjoyable to spend an evening reading good literature.
Monday and Tuesday were mostly about prep for Wednesday's class: working on lectures, grading papers, developing plan sheets, etc. Kerry downloaded a virus protection software on his computer and managed to get my flash drive with virus protection to work again....but only after everything on the drive had been obliterated. But it's not a much loss: I had copies of everything elsewhere. Ah well. I had a lot of catching up to do, but I managed to get most of it done. Tomorrow is my long day...we'll see how it goes.
