Thursday, I took a day off from school and pretty much spent most of the day updating this blog: mostly because I was over two weeks behind on adding pictures. But it's mostly ready at this point, so my efforts are not wasted.
Friday Kerry and I cleaned the apartment a bit and then had a Chinese lesson with Deborah. She reviewed some conversation about buying things with us; we also learned some colors today. (God, I feel like I'm five as I write this.) Oh well...I guess that's the level we are on, still. What's interesting is that she's starting to teach us some VERY basic Chinese characters, so we can read and write some Chinese along with just knowing the pinyin. I'm not sure how far we can progress with this in the three months we have here, but hopefully we can learn something.
Also, after making some inquires to Steve Kulich and Wang Xin via WeChat, I learned that there ISN'T going to be an "International English and American Literature" conference at SISU this year after all. But there is going to be a literature conference for postgraduate students in May. I might like to attend that. In some ways, this news is okay because now I think we'll be able to go to the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian with Randy.
