Days 183-184: Class Prep

Monday and Tuesday, I mostly did prep for my class on Wednesday. This involved making comments on the students' introduction papers (which I enjoyed so much, I took pictures of them all), working on a plan sheet, reading over links, and finalizing my lectures. Not a lot of reading to do yet because I'm going to give my students a lot of background on the Puritans and such, so I don't plan on really discussing The Scarlet Letter all that much. I decided on Tuesday to leave very early on Wednesday to try to avoid traffic...and to pick up my umbrella from the Administration Building. We'll see how that goes.

I've also been working on my lectures for Thailand. It's a lot of work because I had to do three of them from scratch. For the comics one, I discovered that I could use a lot of the presentation that I gave on Persepolis a few years back, so that's helpful. But with the transgender one, I have to do more research. I e-mailed both Max Poessnecker at Century and my good friend Rachel for some help in obtaining resources.

Monday I didn't really get out of the house, but Tuesday Kerry and I took a walk to have some lunch at Domino's (pepperoni pizza) and then make a brief trip to Century Mart. It was a GORGEOUS DAY! About 78 degrees and sunny. I really didn't need the jacket that I brought with me. I feel bad for the folks in MN right now who are enduring snow and 23 degree weather....okay, maybe not that bad!  :)   In that sense, I'm definitely happy to be here.
View across the street from our complex, back from our walk to Century Mart: so nice outside--blue skies, 78 degree weather!
